Shortly after 05:00 hours Quint 12 was alerted for an auto accident on Interstate 95 South in the area of the 134 mile marker. Minutes later Quint 12 arrived on scene to find one vehicle overturned down an embankment with one trapped and upgraded the assignment bringing Rescue 1 to the scene. Rescue 1 then arrived to begin stabilizing the vehicle. After the vehicle was stabilized Rescue 1 then completely removed the driver side door. The crew quickly realized the the patients legs were severely pinned by the dash, floorboard, and center console. The Rescue crew used the AMKUS spreaders to free the patient's legs that were pinned and also used the AMKUS cutter to remove the head rest that had the patient's head pinned to the floor. Engine 2 assisted in packaging the patient into the stokes basket. Quint 12 hauled the patient to the awaiting medics utilizing their aerial. The victim was then airlifted to the hospital. Rescue 1 returned to service approximately 1 hour.
