At 19:21 hours the Engine and Rescue were dispatched on a tractor trailer accident with entrapment at the intersection of Warrenton Road and Poplar Road in Hartwood. Battalion 1 (Lace) and Medic 6 arrived first to find one tractor trailer on it's side versus a pick-up truck with two subjects pinned. Battalion 1 established the "Warrenton Road Command". Engine 12 was next to arrive and took the fire suppression duties by deploying a handline for protection. Falmouth units arrived a minute after Engine 12. Engine 1 deployed another handline to the tractor trailer due to a substantial fuel leak. Rescue 1 stabilized the pick-up and began extrication on the driver utilizing the AMKUS Rescue Tools. The remaining crew from the engine then took on the extrication of the passenger. Falmouth crews removed all the doors from the truck and the driver's side firewall was removed to free the victim's foot. Both patients were extricated in 20 minutes. Units then had to perform hazardous material containment of the large fuel spill from the tractor trailer. Both extricated patients were transported to Mary Washington Hospital. Falmouth units cleared the scene in about an hour.
