| Shortly after 15:00 hours Stafford E.C.C. began receiving numerous calls for a head-on entrapment accident with possible ejection in the 100 block of Cool Springs Road. Rescue 1 with four men responded and arrived to find two vehicles with one subject pinned. Bystanders were tending to four other patients with various injuries and advised the units that one juvenile may have been ejected. Medic 6 arrived seconds later and began the task of triage/ treatment while the rescue crew began freeing the pinned victim. Car 1 (Capt. Shackleford) established the "Cool Springs Command". Command requested another transport unit as Quint 12 arrived and took fire suppression duties. The Triage supervisor advised command the need for a medivac for the most severely injured with Wagon 2 setting up the landing site. Rescue 1 removed the passenger door, A-post, and spread the floorboard in order to remove the victim's foot. The patient was removed in about 10 minutes. All units worked well together as normal and units returned to service. |
