At 09:30 hours Rescue 1 was alerted for a auto accident reported with multiple vehicles overturned with entrapment in the area of the 145.6 I-95 Southbound. Based on the information Rescue 1 requested for a second rescue to be added to the assignment. Rescue 1 Bravo quickly cleared an out of service drill and responded to the accident. Rescue Engine 14 was the first to arrive to find two vehicles over the guardrail, one overturned with people trapped. Rescue Engine 14 completed stabilization and began extricating the pinned occupant. The Operations Deputy Chief arrived and established the Command. Engine 2 was assigned to set up a landing zone. Rescue 1 Bravo and Rescue 1 arrived next and quickly completed the extrication by cutting the bottom of the B post and utilized the spreaders to push the post and door off the top of the pinned patient. Once that was complete, the patient was packaged and flown to the hospital.
