Shortly after the Engine Company returned to service from a medical local inside the first due the box alarm was transmitted for an apartment fire at #100 Chivalry Court in Company 12's first due. The Engine Company responded on the run as the second due engine. Battalion Chief 1 arrived first to find a three story garden apartment with smoke showing and established the “Chivalry Court Command" on side alpha. Engine 12 then laid a supply line at the intersection of Lancelot and Chivalry way then advanced a 400' leader line to side bravo and reported fire inside the crawlspace of the apartment building. Engine Company 1 then arrived as the second due Engine Company then secured Engine 12's water supply and deployed a second hand line to apartment 104. Engine 1 made entry into the apartment to find moderate smoke conditions quickly noticing that the floor was spongy due to fire conditions below. While Engine 12 began getting a knock on the fire from an exterior vent into crawlspace Engine 1 then utilized a saw to open up the floors. Once the floor was opened up the remaining fire was quickly extinguished. Medic 11's crew went operational on arrival and forced entry into multiple apartments to complete the primary searches. Truck 2 and Engine 2 assisted with ventilation and overhaul operations. Units operated on scene for approximately 2 hours before returning to service.
