| Just one hour after the Rescue returned from the townhouse fire the Wagon and Rescue, along with a whole box alarm assignment from Stafford, were responding to a fire in King George. Information in the begining of the response was very limited due to the fire originating at the King George Courthouse which houses the Sheriff's Office and communications center. Both places were evacuated so radio contact was non-exsistent for Stafford units. Wagon 1 arrived first on the would-be second alarm and decided to give a size-up to our responding units. They found a single story, ordinary constructed courthouse with smoke showing from the roof. Numerous King George units were already operating so the crews from the Wagon and Rescue reported to command for instructions. Falmouth units were assigned salvage and overhaul duties due to the important documents located in the building. The fire had the equivilant of three alarms that responded to it and boys got the chance to catch up with our friends from the LaPlata V.F.D. which doesn't happen much. Wagon 1 was released at 22:43 hours and Rescue 1 remained on the scene till midnight. |
