Just before dinner Falmouth Volunteers were alerted to a house on fire at 226 Kelley Road in downtown Falmouth. Wagon, Rescue, Chief 1-3, and Medic 11 responded with 14 men. Wagon 1 arrived first to find a single story, ordinary constructed house with fire showing from side "A" and "B". Chief 1-3 (Good) took the "Kelley Road Command" while the crew from Rescue 1 hiked 200 yards up hill to the home to begin searches. Due to the poor condition of the driveway and position of the home the wagon crew ran the 400' and began knocking the fire down. The crew from Medic 11 abandoned their unit and ran the back-up line. The lineman from Falmouth extiguished all visible fire before the arrival of the second-due company. Command requested a two engines and 1 ladder due to location of the house which hampered firefighters from getting units close to the scene. Engine 7 (White Oak) stretched the 300' 2" line to cover the basement and Wagon 4 (Mt. View) took the R.I.T. duties. Truck Company 2 ventilated the building. All the searches proved negative. Two Falmouth fireman sustained minor burns on this fire but no civilian injuries were reported. Units operated for three hours.
