Extended Stay Program
The Falmouth Volunteer Fire Department offers the opportunity for members to stay at the station for extended periods. Below are some of the amenities for the extended stay in program members:
- 13 dormitory style rooms with lockers/ dresser
- West-net Alerting System in all dorms
- Complete kitchen facility
- Study and Training room with computer
- Washer and Dryer
- Large Dayroom
- Free Wi-Fi and EMAIL account
- Close to area colleges and universities.
- Located next to the YMCA
The Falmouth Volunteer Fire Department is the busiest station in Stafford County averaging around 6500 calls for service annually. The experience and training you gain as an extended stay member is unmatched in this region. The combination of increased call volume, excellent leadership, and your willingness to learn will give you the tools to further your career in the fire and rescue service. Many extended stay members have gone on to be career firefighters in other jurisdictions.
Extended stay members do not have to pay rent but are responsible for greater attendance, duties, and participation with the station. Extended stay in members must have completed their 6 month probation, before being able to qualify. Below are the specific qualifications for the extended stay program.
- Must be 18 years old and an active member
- Must sign the Extended Stay Agreement
- Must be employed or a full-time student
- Must have Firefighter 1, CPR, and Hazardous Materials Awareness
- Must complete the Falmouth V.F.D. Engine Company Release Process
