Just after lunch Stafford E.C.C. received a cell report of a house on fire located at 173 Truslow Road. The Wagon, Rescue, Chief, and Chief 1-2 responded with 8 men. Chief 1-2 (Smith) arrived first and reported he had a single story, wood frame house with smoke showing. The "Truslow Command" was established while the wagon completed the 900-foot layout. The wagon crew advanced a 200' 1.75" attackline through the front and was met by a large volume of fire. Chief 1 arrived next and took "Division 1 Supervisor". Shortly after arrival Division 1 radioed Command he had "Collier's Mansion" conditions inside the home. Quint 12 arrived and took the "Vent Group". Wagon 2 advanced the 2" back-up line while Wagon 4 provided RIT. Rescue 1 and the X-ray crew from Quint 12 completed the searches due to the conditions. The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes but it took 3 hours to mark the incident under control. One civilian was transported to Mary Washington Hospital for trouble breathing but was released before the units cleared the scene. Assistance from Stafford County Utilities and the R-Board (Landfill) was requested for the massive overhaul that took place on the scene. The last unit cleared at 18:00 hours.
The Falmouth Volunteers would personally like to thank all the Fire & Rescue members, Stafford County Utilities, and the R-Board for their help on this non-typical incident.
