At 19:00 hours, Stafford E.C.C. received a call from the homeowner across the street from 1 Rolling Brooke Court advising there were flames coming from the windows of that address. The box alarm was transmitted bringing Engine, Rescue, and Chief 1 with 9 volunteers. Engine and Truck 2 arrived on scene with a large two story single family home with fire showing from the first and second floors on the Alpha side. Chief 2 arrived next and established the "Rolling Brooke Command". Truck 2 made a quick search of the basement with negative results and advised hose lines were needed before searches of the first and second floors can be made. Company 1 units, Engine's 9 and 14 arrived next with Chief 1 taking the water supply officer duties. Engine 1 and Rescue 1 hooked up with Engine and Truck 2 and they formed the "Garage Division" with Engine 1's officer as the supervisor. With most of the house well involved the attack started in the garage area trying to save as much of the house as possible. Engine 14 established the Rapid Intervention Group with the driver going to set up the fill site. Engine 9 operated in the "Charlie Division".
While en-route to the scene Engine 4 was involved in an accident, thankfully no one on the crew was seriously hurt. With Engine 4 out of service command asked for a few more tankers and engines for the water shuttle bringing Engine 1B to the scene. There were issues with access to obtain a draft at Aquia Creek. Charles County, Maryland Fire Boat 4 saw the fire from their side of the river and launched to investigate. Once on scene they were requested to supply Engine 14 with there 2000gpm fire pump. Several collapses occurred during the fire so all units operated in a defensive mode for most of the incident. The home owners were not at home at the time of the fire and no firefighters were injured during the operations. The fire is still under investigation.
