Rescue Company 1 Runs Fatal Tractor Trailer Accident

Shortly after 10:00 hours the Rescue Company was alerted for a overturned tractor trailer in the area of Interstate I-95 148 South. Units from Quantico FD were first to arrive confirming one tractor trailer over turned with the driver pinned. Truck 2 arrived moments later with Engine 9 and immediately started to assist Quantico units with stabilization of the vehicle. Once stabilization was complete Truck 2 and members from Quantico Truck 533 began using air tools and reciprocating saws to tunnel in to the patient. Personnel from Rescue 532 and Engine 533 worked on freeing the pinned driver. Unfortunately the driver had succumbed to his injuries and the operations were turned into a recovery. At that point Truck 2, Engine 9, Tower 512, Rescue 1, and multiple companies from Quantico along with a heavy wrecker from Wards Towing assisted with removing the driver. All units on scene worked diligently to complete the extrication. Rescue 1 operated on scene for 2 hours before returning to service.
